A former member of the corporate magazine elite who spent her days writing for the masses, spunky, young Sammy D decided to bid “adieu” to her high-rise office life and strike out on her own to bring affordable, sustainable and most importantly, fashionable, vintage clothing and accessories to the fashionistas of NYC (and now around the world via her website)!
Recently, we had the awesome opportunity to connect with Sammy D at her SpaHa showroom for some wine, pita, hummus and dress-up! We had an incredibly fun evening, and our allotted 2.5 hours of photo shoot time zoomed by in the blink of an eye. Lindsay and I had so much fun working under Sammy’s guidance to find both corporate and casual wardrobe pieces, so we insist, go check her out! She’s having a sale this Sunday, April 18th from 2pm-7pm at 144 West 86th St., Apt. 2B. There will be wine, cupcakes, door prizes and lots of fashion! To top it all off, the sale will also be raising enough money to pay for one year of schooling, books and a uniform for 14-year-old Cherdeline of Boucan-Carre, Haiti through The Haiti Outreach Program. More details here (Facebook login required). Lindsay and I will be there – and so should you!
Even if you aren’t in NYC this weekend to meet Sammy, one day you’ll be watching her on MTV road-tripping around the country with her best friends as you flip through her colorful and inspiring coffee table book!
Here are some shots from our visit:
Cheers to fun with vintage!
AMAZING skirt! The silhouette is a classic, and the bold yellow gives it an edge that makes it a must-have. The red belt Sammy D supplied makes for a perfect office outfit!
Ok, next outfit:
First of all, I loved the shoes. It is nearly impossible to find size 10 vintage shoes, but Sammy D had 2 pair! The skirt was comfortable and fun to wear, however I didn’t think it was the best option for work wear; it’s a little too patterned and flowy for my slightly conservative office tastes. The blazer, on the other hand, is incredible. It’s a unique cut with interesting button placement and darting.
My final outfit doesn’t really fit under the corporate umbrella either, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to try on this adorable skirt patterned with horses. With the corduroy jacket, the camel fedora and brown heels, I felt quite equestrian in the most “Ralph Lauren” kind of way.
Thank you so much, Sammy!
What great outfits did Lindsay wear? Find out on Wednesday!
