Jazz Things Up with Accessories

There inevitably comes a point in time when you become bored with your wardrobe, even if you have an extensive closet with lots of choices. Ever had a closet full of clothes with nothing to wear? Most items lose their shine over time, and something that was so fun to wear at first is suddenly not even worth considering.  Thank goodness for accessories! Earrings, necklaces, belts, scarves … they can all change the look of a pair of pants or an old sweater, making any item go from bland and boring to interesting and different.

I recently rediscovered a scarf that was a present I received from a good friend in college.  It tends to sit in my closest for a few months, and then it surprises me every once in a while as I try to search for something different to wear to work. I occasionally use it as a belt, but most often I drape it around my neck to dress up a simple sweater or button-up shirt.  The scarf gives the outfit a more polished presentation, and for some reason I just feel more adult when wearing it.  That can’t hurt, right?  Maybe a little maturity will follow 😉

Isn’t this is lovely photo of the sweater?  We experimented with Lindsay’s camera for this shoot and found that it takes impressive close-up photos.  These side buttons are such a cute detail to this simple sweater.

Don’t be afraid to mix things up with accessories!

Amazing! I’m so happy the scarf played a starring role in such a stylish publication 🙂 I wear my matching blue one all the time.

For those of us who can never tie a scarf as beautifully as the Parisiennes do, here is a great pictoral guide from Texere Silk:

YouTube is also a source for scarves in action.
